Career history at Hilti
I joined Hilti as a fresh graduate with a background in research and just a little experience in industry. Hilti gave me a great opportunity to get stuck in with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, working with R&D and marketing teams on developing new products. So far, I’ve been involved with everything from concept to series production.
I feel especially proud to have been part of a project bringing a new product variant to the market, one that our customers said they wanted. I’m also proud to be part of the fire protection production team, to possibly save lives.
I had a fast but smooth introduction to the business, with various training programs as well as time spent working with different teams: technical, quality and production units.
Even at this early stage with the company, I’m able to identify a potential career path and the skills I’ll need to work on to achieve it. Hilti helps you like that, with regular one-to-ones and support whenever you need it.
Every project phase I’ve worked on has been an excellent experience, with both challenge and fun every single day.
Career history at Hilti
I joined Hilti towards the end of my studies, when the company’s head of global warehousing and transport gave a presentation at my university. I was literally fascinated by the man, the way he engaged the auditorium and brought us into the presentation. The passion from his speech sparked an interest in me to know more about this business. A few months later, I was in Liechtenstein writing my master’s thesis with Hilti!
During this time as a humble post-graduate, I was seriously impressed by how much effort (onboarding, coaching, travel) and trust they invested in me. I was also surprised by how they genuinely valued my opinion and my work.
From this point, it was clear to me: I wanted to pursue my career with Hilti.
My first full-time role with Hilti meant moving to the UK for some hands-on experience in the warehouse. Here I worked on projects on optimization and lean management and also got the chance to lead a team of 12 people for six months. A year later, I was promoted to regional planner. I found it really interesting to see this part of the supply chain, where you get to have daily direct contact with sales, marketing and customer service.
After two successful years in the UK, it was time to take on new challenges and responsibilities, this time in the Asia Pacific region. I’m now enjoying a more strategic role in Hong Kong, driving projects to professionalize our logistics service offering.
Career history at Hilti
When I was studying innovation and technology management and I was looking for an interesting Master’s Thesis topic, I remembered Hilti and also a family member saying ‘we take out the Hilti when we want to do the best job’. Naturally, I was really excited to join.
The internship was a great opportunity to get familiar with Hilti’s culture and processes. I especially was overwhelmed of the trust to execute tasks and smaller projects and the supportive environment, which helped me a lot to bring in my passion and engagement for innovation.
After my studies, there wasn’t an obvious role for me to move into. Management saw my potential and created an Innovation Manager position with me in mind. It was my dream job, and I couldn’t wait to get started. I was part of launching our new innovation initiative, Hungry Lion, inviting everyone in the business to have their ideas heard and considered, making everyone a contributor. Later on, I took over the global lead for the initiative and further developed, sustained & managed the innovation management global approach for manufacturing in the Fastening & Protection area.
It is great how we come together to share ideas and bring them to life: we've built a real community where we exchange and discuss about ways of using the tools we have to make things better.
It was an exciting moment for me to start months later a brand new role as a Global Technology and Engineering Manager. In this position I can combine my experiences from previous positions and extend my skills on both sides, strategically and operationally. Here I am part to build the future when it comes to manufacturing related engineering, but in the same time I can extend my leading abilities by applying them to global technology projects.
I’m thrilled about the next cool thing that we develop, and the way we can respond and adapt to different business needs. We get to create something tangible today that could have a massive impact tomorrow, and that’s why I do it.
These Hilti employees share your department and career level but have a different key characteristic.
